Performance (40% of the final score) – I’m running out of ways to tell you how awesome this platform is. Ripple control? Awesome. 12mV at worst means no points come off there. Voltage regulation? Awesome. 0.3% in the hot box is mythic level. Efficiency? Awesome. Titanium easily, and did you see the test two numbers pushing 95% in the cold tests? Sadly, the smooth and continuous part of the power on transient tests is the one area where these continue to be not quite as awesome. But this unit only loses half a point there, so we come out with a 9.5 here.

Functionality (20% of the final score) – I’m going to pull half a point for the dual ribbon nonsense on the two CPU cables and stop right there. Seasonic throws in a ton of goodies, their semi-fanless mode always works well, and I definitely love having a SATA 3.3 adapter replacing that godforsaken Berg rubbish. 9.5.

Value (20% of the final score) – this is $190.54 at NewEgg right now. There’s no competition at that price. EVGA’s T2 unit is currently almost eighty bucks more money, and going up to the kilowatt level does you no favors at this efficiency level. 10.

Build Quality (20% of the final score) – perfect. 10.

PRIME Ultra 850 Titanium – Scoring
Performance 9.5
Functionality 9.5
Value 10
Build Quality 10
Total Score 9.7

I have now become so used to having these amazing performing Seasonics around that I have come to expect this performance from all of their products. But it cannot be stressed enough how sweet it is to feel that way about them. To date, every single PRIME unit has performed magnificently. Where does Seasonic even go from here? Better regulation? Don’t need it. Better ripple control? Don’t need it. Shallower housing? Eh, maybe. But that’s about all I can think of.

  • mythic voltage regulation
  • better than excellent ripple handling
  • super high 20% load level efficiency
  • tons of accessories
  • 12-year warranty

The BAD:

  • nothing

  • double ribbons on the CPU cables
