That sense of deja vu you have right now comes from the power on spike tests of big brother, which performed identically. I mean, there is no difference at all. All shots are well in spec, and rise time looks fantastic.

Let's run the hot tests now. As this is a small unit, I'll turn off all the extra hot box fans and just let the temperature go nuts. That said, we probably won't hit fifty degrees... this unit is just too small for that. But let's see where we end up.

We did get close to fifty degrees... forty-six isn't bad, and the unit didn't have any problem with that. Fanless mode was only observed in test one this time, which is about what happened with big brother as well. No major surprises there.

Once again, we do have a clean pass for Gold efficiency, so there are no issues there, either.

Unfortunately, the ATX connector resisted my efforts to make it behave, and we're seeing no improvement with voltage stability. It's a strictly average performing unit in this regard. The 3.3V rail is now sitting at 3.9%, while the 5V and 12V rails are unchanged at 2.6% and 2.2% respectively. Our average for scoring is 2.9%. Like I said, that's middle of the pack stuff right there, and I can definitely see Seasonic going back over this platform later to tighten that up.

In the meantime, it is what it is. Let's check out the scope shots for ripple.

This is where you'd expect to see an improvement over the larger unit in the series, and that's exactly what we have going on here. The bigger unit had enough of a slower up and down undulation on the 12V rail to hit 50mV, and this one drops that to about 40mV. It's a little messier looking, but not to the point that it matters, really.

That said, it's going to score the same as big brother as we aren't close enough to the excellence line on the 12V to let it get away with no deductions. However, the other two rails are indeed excellent, coming in at under 20mV each so the scoring impact of the 12V rail will be minimal.
