Performance (40% of the final score) - I love it when a unit makes my scoring job easy, and the Hiper Type M 630W is making this easy. While I do feel the need to knock a little bit off for the mesh not quite keeping the airflow where it belongs, and the unusually low efficiency (but not too low) for this design, there's very little to complain about here. The regulation is excellent, and so is ripple and noise suppression. Hiper did well here. 9.
Functionality (20% of the final score) - the Extender idea remains a pretty clever approach to getting around a certain lawsuit happy company who has been going around suing modular PSU makers. While I still prefer modular myself, this isn't a bad alternative at all. I like the obsessive attention to neatness Hiper paid to this unit as well, with the sleeving being very well done and the cables separated into similar groups by those four grommets in front. I also like the fan running after shutdown. So, I'm going to be generous and hand out a 9.5.
Value (30% of the final score) - as I type this, Xoxide is selling this unit for $94.99. This is right in line with other units of this caliber, including the Corsair TX650 and Thermaltake Toughpower 650W. That says good value to me, but I'll take off half a point for being a 630W, not a 650W. Another 9.5.
Aesthetics (10% of the final score) - by now, you all know how I feel about matte black understatedness. Love it. And the Hiper Type M 630W is just what I like, although the white fan grille hub decal spoils it just a bit. 9.

Summary
Hiper keeps on with the goodness brought by their 880W flagships with the Type M 630W. Offering excellent performance in a not too expensive package, this unit promises to be a solid choice for anyone looking for just enough power to run a single high powered video card.
The Good:
excellent regulation
good ripple and noise suppression
quiet
kept the fan running on power off
well sleeved
The Bad:
mesh case hurts, rather than helps with the cooling
The Mediocre:
loose heatsink screws again (but they're fixing that)
