Today we're looking at one of Zippy's gaming power supplies: The Emacs GSM-6600P.

The box is really cool looking. On the end and side panels, it's made to look like the power supply inside.

Inside, everything is protected with foam. A power cord and 24-to-20-pin ATX adapter is included.

So here's the power supply. No.. that's not still the box. It's really the power supply this time.

The housing is made of aluminum, but not the cast aluminum that many aluminum power supplies are made of. This housing is made from a thin sheet of rolled aluminum. It sort of has a cheap feel to it because it easily flexes, but it's brushed black finish certainly looks fantastic. It's also going to cool better than a steel housing. We'll see why this actually plays a big part with the Zippy when we do the autopsy.

For active cooling, the unit is cooled by a single 80MM fan on the outisde end of the housing.

On the top of the power supply unit (bottom as it's installed) there is a raised, metallic "Emacs" logo that looks very sharp on the black aluminum background. It reminds me very much of a car insignia.

The back of the unit is wide open for ventillation. The cables are only sleeved leading up to the housing, but not going into the housing.

The cables are sleeved very nicely and very close to the connector.

The label of the Emacs Gamer isn't much like most power supply's labels:

Note the 3.3V and 5V combined maximum output is stated in Amps. So you can put as much of a load on either rail, as long as the total current on both of those rails combined does not exceed 50A.
