Wazzup, homies? I've got a very special review for you today. Not too long ago, Antec fired an email in my direction asking if I would be game for reviewing both a case and a power supply at the same time. Since I enjoy things like "working" for a "living," I said, "yes."
The case in question is the GX-700 and the power supply is the brand new High Current Gamer 750 watt modular unit. We have an awful lot of ground to cover today, so how about we get things rolling? I'll show you the power supply, then the case, then load test the power supply, then build a rig with both the power supply and the case, then form some conclusions. Finally, I will fall over backwards, fingers calloused and twitching, unable to even look at my computers again for the rest of the day in sheer exhaustion.
Let's get to it.
As is the case with all products, there's some marketing on the box of the power supply. It's nothing we haven't seen before from Antec, so I'm going to save myself some explaining work and move right to the next picture.
LED fan! CircuitShield! 16-pin socket! I seriously hope you can turn that LED illumination off. Sometimes, the colors manufacturers choose isn't what the buyer wants. Other times, said buyer wants no lights at all. Like me.
Here's our connector list for the unit.
We have some specifications on this side of the box, and some helpful tech support contact data.
Time to get on with the unboxing part. I see Antec is still using their cardboard padding approach, in multiple layers, to keep their power supplies safe.
Found in the box was a power supply in a little bag, a power cord, some modular cables, a warranty and overview sheet, and some screws.
Here's the overview now. Again, this just gives you the bare basics on the unit - you have to go to the website for the full manual. Where, it turns out, there is no data on maximum safe operating temperature for full power operation anywhere. Once again, I find a manual that is rather lacking in the details. I'll probably score on that later.
Here's your warranty info sheet. I'll see you on the next page. One page down, nine to go.
