Paul over at [H]ardOCP takes a look at the new Enermax Modulou82+ 625W unit. It is a modular unit which features an upgrade to all Japanese capacitors. All that is well and good, but what struck me as a bit odd was the use of two primary reservoir capacitors given that there is not really a space constraint. If the architecture is anything like that of the one employed by the Liberty series, you probably will not see the simple, efficient and popular double-forward switching configuration.
The unit tested well across the board and featured very good voltage regulation throughout Paul's killer testing process meriting an award. But, personally, I'd rather wait and see what the situation is after a year before concluding that Enermax have stepped it up a notch and put a few nagging issues (failure on the primary side, APFC implementation) behind them.
