Default Tacens Intros Radix 6 Series PSUs@TPU

http://www.techpowerup.com/173792/Ta...ries-PSUs.html

Brace yourselves, this is gonna get hilarious. Or sad:

Quote:
The 550W variant features a single 6+2 pin PCIe power connector, the 650W and 750W models feature two, and the 850W model features four.
Quote:
Tacens also introduced two Radix Eco series PSU models, 500W and 400W. The Radix Eco 500W sticks to the standard ATX form-factor, while the 400W model is built in the SFF ATX form-factor. Both Eco models lack PCIe power connectors.
Only comment I can think of:

Impressive stuff, the guys at Tacens clearly know what they're doing..

That's just a poor line up.

I wouldn't care if these guys performed as well as S12II Bronze and cost half as much; I still couldn't recommend them.

Seeing as Radix V and IV didn't have PCIe either, it isn't anything new :P

Seems kinda pathetic though... I live in Poland, and here a local Polish brand just released a 500W PSU with 4xPCIe for ~€51. And a 600W one with 4xPCIe + 2xEPS for ~€58. I'd even say it's a bit of an overkill, but still, it's better to have some extra connectors just in case.

They're reading the JonnyGURU forums.

Those are some gutless wonders that could deserve an explosive review.

And not just them. Certain buzzwords in PL when it comes to PSUs got rooted pretty well. Stuff like having indy regulation/DC-DC vs group regulation, amount of PCI-E connectors, length of CPU cables and using 12V combined power to see if unit is up to task. That particular maker seems to have taken care of it, but I don't know, how good electrically are those PSUs yet.

As for Tacens, actually, they are getting WORSE as time goes on:

1. I have Radix IV 500W and it does have single 6-pin connector, unlike that new 500W.
2. Radix IV 500W has higher combined 12V capacity than Radix V 550W (444W vs 408W). Radix IV has also all cables sleeved, when V - only 20 + 4-pin one.
3. They also cut down 450W version going from IV to V series - neither had any PCI-E connectors, but Radix IV at least had 4 Molex connectors. Radix V - only 2.
4. Best part was Radix V 750W. I've opened it - it is the same platform as Radix IV 500W... with almost entire transient filter removed. Predictably, it can't do more than 500W, both vreg and ripple goes out of spec above that. Here, see attached pics for "hilarity" - yes, "750W" one on the left.

A bump, specs are available on Tacens.es. And guess what? They are even more "hilarious" than cabling configuration. Let's see 12V powers:

400W - 264W@12V
500W - 324W@12V
550W - 384W@12V
650W - 432W@12V
750W - 540W@12V
850W - 624W@12V

And combined powers on all rails barely add up to total rating.

Amazing PSUs, in for 2.

Wow. Just... wow. Tacens was never a top notch brand, though they had some interesting models in their lineup (like Valeo III). But this? It's gotta be a joke...
