Default Xigmatek Centauro 1000W @ TechPowerUp

Quote:
Xigmatek's new PSU series, Centauro, consists of four units with capacities ranging from 600W to 1000W. All feature Bronze efficiency (although right now none of them are listed on the official 80 Plus page), a semi-modular cabling system and affordable prices. Today's review sample will be the strongest Centauro (XTK-CB-1000M) with 1000W capacity. Briefly, this unit features compact dimensions with only 160mm depth, a single +12V rail which can deliver up to 75A and it is equipped with a powerful 140mm fan which outputs up to 143CFM. Apparently the low efficiency rating of the unit leads to increased heat dissipation so a fairly strong fan is essential to handle the increased thermal load. The only problem is that a strong fan emits lots of noise; however Xigmatek states that the max noise level is only 32.7dBA. In our review we are going to easily verify whether the fan's operation passes unnoticeable, as Xigmatek states, or not.

too bad it's single rail and the fan is so noisy...

Besides that it looks pretty decent...

Design wise, yes; but some of the parts are better (secondary) and some parts are worse (BR since it's 230vAC only.)

Soldering has gotten better at Sirfa though.

Possibly, guess I must have mentally moved on to greener pastures - not to say G14C is bad, just no longer sth to get excited about.

Honestly, it's just nothing to be excited about.

If you have the cash to build a system that requires this level of power; you're going to be getting a better unit.

At the same time, some brands hope to cash in and sell a decent bronze 1000w unit to undercut the sales of larger brands who have 850w bronze units in the same price bracket.

What ever happened to that 1.45KW Platinum unit that Xigmatek showed more than a year ago?

An 230V-only unit with a 80plus bronze badge?

SuperFlower has one aswell:

It means that the unit will only be sold in Europe since Xigmatek doesn't seem to be distributing PSU's to U.S anymore.
