This was a sample from Fractal, so, this comes without warranty

I will add more pictures and details of it this weekend since I have planned test it, but keep in mind that I'm a total nOOb in PSU's testing so the results and test will be very basic and maybe not at the Jonny's level.

We were all noobs once. I read some of my early reviews and cringe.

Your early reviews (don't remember the site they were one) were some of the first of their kind though.

For those in the know, you're a bit e-famous for starting an increase in quality.

I'¡d say that Jonny is very e-famous, in fact, after read reviews here about the AX1200 and Antec High Current Pro 1000W I took my choice and went with the Corsair.

Short info on the ATNG based Newton R3 600W unit ... passed it through the loads up to ~650W (730W @230V).

It achieved some nice Vreg results, for ex. 3.3V did 0.9% (~15A), 5V aimed a little bit lower at 1.2% (~10A).
12V rail had some fine results too - 1.1% on the 6pin PCIe connectors ... and 0.08% on the EPS (total load of ~45A @12V)

Build quality is ok - external is satisfactory, and inside holds up some nice NCC's primary/secondary (except the CapXon solid caps on the 12V rail - dunno how they behave in longterm run).
Fractal Designs 0.28A 120mm fan likes to ramp it's RPM's, once he's waken up from passive mode (400-450W AC), but his noise is not annoying at all.

I should question my Fractal contact. I need one of these

Glad to see Fractal went with good caps.

Capxon solid's haven't had too many issues. We haven't seen a whole lot of them on the market so far (not nearly as long as their other caps) but they seem to be holding up just fine.

No surprise that it does well though, built on the same design as the Rosewill Fortress line-up. Just modular instead of non-modular (pitty Rosewill went that way.)

One little doubt I was having with power supplies (in general) was tested with this PSU as a lab rat

I've noticed how some PSU's have different Vdrop on their PCIe/EPS cables and this started buggin me a while ago.

As this PSU is semi-modular I had a perfect chance to experiment on how (non)modularity, amount of pins and numer of connectors was affecting those Vreg numbers.

First of all, I had a bunch of 14 AWG wires laying around ... and a few spare 6pin PCIe connectors. One hour latter, one simple modular 6pin PCIe cable saw his first daylight

With Newton 600 and a bunch of different cable combinations I had to try it on. Here are some results:

With this in mind, I wonder ... how much does regulation depend just on the inside part and how much solely on their cables. Just carefully thought-out wire thickness, (non)modularity and number of connectors/pins can really make a difference.

I think I'm gonna order myself some pins, connectors and sleeves

14AWG wire seems unrealistic as the connector terminals are designed to fit 16AWG and 18AWG conductors.
Also, what is the length of these cables?

Seems unrealistic but I've noticed that PSU manufacturers use thinner wires then usual. For example, double PCIe connector on a 20 gauge wire ... which seems very risky and stingy.

Non modular EPS (~700mm, 18AWG)
Non modular2 connector PCIe (~550mm + 100mm, 18 AWG)
Modular 2 connector PCIe (450mm + 150mm, 20 AWG)
Modded modular PCIe (550mm, 14 AWG)

I used this gauge because I had some amount of it laying around, and for no other reason than that. As it appears it was a perfect pick (not saying you could do lot worse with 16 AWG, but I didn't have some in possession).
