Hellow.
I bought a spray because I didnt find 1L liquid PLASTIK 70, so I had to spray in a small container and use a seringe with a big needle to suck the liquid. After that I completely soaked the Ferite coil. It came out perfect . I preffer this method instead of spraying the entire area because this way I know for sure that I hit the sweet spot.I also used paper masking tape so that I wont fill the entire case with the substance. I will post the result of this "experiment" tomorrow. I keep my finger crossed. |

The operation was successfull. I still cand hear a buzz but not so loud. The tonality is not so "metailc/electrical". All in all I'm very pleased. My uncle says he cant hear a thing...
but I still do. I will need a couple of days to really see the result of my work and if the "TASER" like sound is still present. One odd thing is that as I tried the PSU at work an plugged in a NZXT Sentry Mesh Fan Controller with a couple of fans. Before coating the coil I could hear a faint buzz in the motor of the fans I use: Scythe Gentle Typhoon Ap-15, and Thermalright TY-140. Now the buzz is gone so this is a plus. Man I hate gremlins in the engine. Anyway it can very well be the fact that at work(I took the PSU with me ) the power is "cleaner" than home. Will post in couple of days anyway to give a defintive result. |

Well I definitely can say the coating is a 50% emprovement for some types of noise, buzzing, etc, but the "TASER" like noise still is present....it occurs both in normal operation, and standby and it only goes away when completely powered off or goes away by itself by no visible pattern. Right now it's around 23.00 at night and still was present. I'll try to record it next time...might be some kind of interference but what the heck causes it I dont know....no other device in the house displays anything out of the ordinary....
It happened again while writing .... I attached a recording of it. It's electrical and comes near the PSU power socket I'm 100% sure. It's not made by the fan or something else in my PC. Link with the audio recordings: http://www20.zippyshare.com/v/92301899/file.html http://www20.zippyshare.com/v/59999990/file.html http://www.filedropper.com/nearpsu http://www.filedropper.com/inaudiospeakers Its audible in my PC audio speakers but it is not audible in the headphones connected at the front of the PC. The next thing I can try is an EMI filter box. http://www.mikado.ro/filtru-anti-int...a-250v-ac.html place it in a metal box and make a connection using sockets from an old PSU, or use shuko sockets. If this doesnt work I'm all aout of ideas... Anybody has a clue at to what might be and should I buy another PSU? |

Wow. That's pretty noisy. I can't say I've ever heard that before.

Do I have any options?
Well somebody said to change the coil, but what the heck its just a ferrite coil and copper wire... if only I new what causes it. It comes and goes whenever it wants...if the coil would if been damaged it should've had some kind of mark/burn/or whatever. I'll buy a cheap noise filtering device form a local electronic supplier and see if it will make the noise again. If it'll still do it, I'm all out of ideas.... |

The filter is ready and in use. Will see if the PSU starts acting again.
My gut feeling says it will . It's just a matter of time...Anyone has even a remote idea as to what it might be? Any input would be highly appreciated. Thank You |

With the filter the noise was present again, just that this time the intensity of the sound was about 50% lower...it still sounds like the "TASER" sound from the recordings above but its a little quieter and a little more faster.
I'm all out of ideas... |

Above when I said it was faster I meant the rythm is faster..

Here is some food for thought. A user on a romanian enthusiast forum had a Sapphire 1050W (ENERMAX inside) who had another strange phenomenon. His "noise" has some similarities with mine. Check it out. He RMA'ed the PSU. In his case also the noise appeared without any correlation to temperature, consumption or any visible cause. If I load the CPU with IBT and my GPU with Furmak the same noise as the one in the video is also present but at a lower intensity.Too bad I cant RMA my PSU. So much for a 5 year warranty. The 5 year warranty was one of the reason why I chose to buy my ENEREMAX, second hand....too bad. I wont do it ever again
.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZ_1PHCVavQ I'll check from time to time this thread maybe somebody will have some solution to my annoying problem. |
