Default Super Flower Intros New 80PLUS Bronze 550W Modular PSU

Super Flower introduced a new 550W modular PSU for mid-range gaming PCs, the SF-550K14XP. Capable of 550W output with over 85% efficiency at 50% load, the SF-550K14XP features active PFC with LLC resonant half-bridge rectifier. It incorporates a single 12V rail design, with a single 45.5A rail. It is EPS 2.91 specifications compliant, and features various protection mechanisms such as OVP (over-voltage), OPP (over-power), and SCP (short-circuit). Key connectors such as 24-pin ATX, 4+4 pin ATX/EPS, and one 6+2 pin PCIe are fixed; while an additional 6+2 pin PCIe, SATA+SATA+Molex, 4x Molex, and 4x SATA cables are modular. The unit is cooled by a blue LED-lit 120 mm fan. Pricing information is awaited.

LLC resonant and only 80PLUS Bronze? I'm confused.

This is a 220Vac only unit that is claimed to have 85% efficiency at typical load.

Without synchronous rectification and DC-DC VRM for minors, the efficiency is not so surprising.

The Kingwin KX1000 is the same way.

They are cost-effective solutions based on similar designs to the Golden Green / Golden King units, but obviously not tuned for Gold / Platinum efficiency.

I don't know if anyone has taken one apart yet to see what the secondary is like though.

Super Flowers' budget product line is up to 550w in Chinese market. Units of this line are pretty close in layout. I don't think the 1000w unit has anything a lot better.

I was more talking about the 1000w. As it's the most interesting considering it's a modular 1000w for ~$130 USD.

Looks good, as a cost-cut version of their gold rated platform... I'd like to see what they can do.. Any chance of testing one Crmaris?

the internal looks more like this.

all parts similar to the gold series (including the transformer), but different secondary rectifier configuration.

Not actually 80plus Bronze certified, just a badge that looks like it? Maybe they are stretching the truth a bit? Hmm, knowing Super Flower they probably just wanted to save the cost of getting the unit certified.
