Default Quad-SLI GTX 680 & i7 3960X PSU Recommendation

Hey guys,

I'm building a boss hog box...I have all of the components except a suitable case and I believe I need a better PSU...here's what I have thus far:

i7 3960X overclocked
Corsair H100 liquid CPU cooler
MSI Big Bang XPower-II mobo
32GB Mushkin Redline RAM
1x 256GB Samsung 830 SSD
1x 512GB Samsung 830 SSD
4x EVGA GTX 680 overclocked

All would be on a Cooler Master Silent Pro Gold 1200W - from a wiring perspective, it works - except I can't power the add'l VGA power connector on the mobo itself (it's a high-end OC board so it has more juice for CPU/VGA on the board for OCing).

Should I go to a bigger and/or better PSU?

Silverstone Strider 1500W?
Platimax 1500W?
MaxRevo 1350W?
Seasonic X-1250?

Thanks!

Your current PSU is sufficient.

A quality 1200W PSU should be sufficient.

Or you could wait for our upcoming 1500W power supply.

Thanks folks. I guess I will stick with my Cooler Master Silent Pro Gold 1200W. I will perhaps buy the Seasonic X-1250 as an upgrade and put the CM in my other box.

Hey - awesome rig, I'm really glad I found this post as I'm putting something that's very similar, but I'm waiting for the 4GB 680s before I put it together. I was thinking of using the Antec High Current Pro HCP-1200, but have no real preferences so can you keep me updated on how your build goes and whether you run into any issues with the PSU. What case are you going to use? I've settled for the Corsair 800D as it will fit the H100 cooler in push pull, and have lots of space for additional cooling as well.

Changing the mobo to the ASUS Rampage IV Extreme since the MSI Big Bang XPower-II has a two-PCI slot offset (thus requiring a minimum of 10 PCI slots in a case in order to fit 4x GTX 680) - therefore I will use my current NZXT Switch 810 case, still (was going to switch to a Case Labs M10). Once the R4E arrives, I can do quad-SLI. Right now it's just tri-SLI.

I ordered the Seasonic X-1250 yesterday. Figured if I'm going all out, I may as well use all the components I want. The CM Silent Pro Gold 1200W was from a used rig I bought.

I will definitely keep you posted here.

I've gone the other way - was originally planning to go for the Rampage IV Extreme, but have realised that the case wouldn't have enough space for quad-sli in any case. So now I'm going for an Enermax Fulmo GT case which has 10 slots, so figure I'd get better airflow with the MSI Big Bang.

I've been wondering how the four cards get decent airflow once you install them right next to each other. Does the MSI Big Bang offer any airflow advantages to get them some more breathing space? I'm going air-cooling all the way at the moment so it seems to me that it's better to have them as far away from other components as possible.
