Hello I have a hp media center pc m7434n I had to recently replace the hard drive, I have the old one still in it but I bought the new drive and I'm looking for a reinstallation disc for windows xp media center edition. I've found some out of price range, but I have found some that were for Dell oem only, could I use the disc to install the i386 files (windows) and use my hp Coa (product key) and have it still install, sense it is not breaking the oem I figure it should install, any help or advise that could be given would be appreciated.
Also the new drive is smaller than the old one, got smaller because I did not need a lot of extra space. |

No, you need an HP or Compaq branded disk (they were merged about this time, the OEM code is the same.) The OEM installers for XP are locked to codes in the BIOS, they will not work on other brands, nor even on the machine you bought them for if you installed a stock BIOS from the board manufacturer instead of the OEM HP one.
