Looks like someone isn't on the up & up.
On the other hand, performance of these guys is inline with what Aurum already offers. Just boosted efficiency. The power on the 12v rail is strange though, only 576w available? Aurum CM 650w offers a full 600w available, and more power on the minor rails. Platform is definitely not what we saw in Aurum Fanless. Nor anything as advanced. On the bright side, the secondary side is filled out with Jap caps. Though, an 85*C Capxon primary cap doesn't exactly inspire confidence. |

Wait, Aurum can clear Platinum even without DC-DC secondary? Maybe it will clear Titanum with one.

SR group regulated 5V have higher efficiency than D2D 5V but poor voltage regulation!!

They are similar designs (E.G. same topology) but do not share the same platform. Though both units are in line with what you'd expect out of most modern 80+ Gold / Platinum PSU's (E.G. LLC + DC-DC)

Are you really surprised?

Well, some reps in the past, were more honest about what was going on. No matter what, I have the same expectations for all.

When I say it is not based on Aurum it means it is changed by more than just cap change. And they changed quite a lot still using a similar lay-out. And the delays give proof for that. Otherwise FSP would have been shipping long long long long long ago. Does this make sense? Therefore they tweaked quite a lot to get Platinum. (And I did not talk about Aurum fanless) So as a rep, I am honest and on this quite picky. If it would be so easy to go from Gold to Platinum, many manufacturers would be shipping already. Platinum level is some sort of sonic barrier to breach without going for high-end topologies & high-end prices.
If you were right with your opinion, you should be surprised about the lack of Platinum desktops in the market. |
