Default Why Was the Seasonic 660 X deactivated from NewEgg?

I have one 650 X and need another for another computer and thought I would get the "newer" version, the Seasonic 660 X.

It's seemingly not available from NewEgg and deactivated. Why? Is there a problem with this PS vs. the Seasonic 650 X?

They just ran out of stock is all.

Most of the time, when Newegg runs out of stock, they deactivate the product to remove it from the listings so you don't see it.
When they know when stock is going to be back in, is when they'll usually relist it with an ETA.

Funny thing is that I've never seen X-660 available on newegg in the past few months... while X-650 was always available.
That's just weird. Do they constantly keep running out of stock, or what?

I wonder. It may not be as simple as just running out of stock. When NewEgg indicates "deactivated" I've found they have no forseeable plans on getting them back in stock. When they have an item they run out of and DO plan to get more, they offer the "notify me" option for them to e mail you when said item is back in stock.

There may be more going on than just inability to get them due to scarcity issues.

The inverse situation is present in EU, they probably decided to remove the X660 from the NA line and the X650 from the EU line simply to avoid product overlap.

Why would they choose intentionally to limit their sales? There is obviously a market for both units.

I'm not so sure about either of your points.. I don't see how this move would hurt their sales but I can see how such a move simplifies the (pointless)logistics associated with overlapping and competing products within the same product line.

Keep in mind, that they have Corsair as client for AX series (650, 750, 850) with just that platform, so they are not really limiting much if anything after all.

The reviews on the 660 refer to improved design and thermal transfer over previous models. Why not purchase the newer better one, the 660? Except it's not available.
