Default Anyone with loud AX1200 fan with vsync off

Replaced my HX1000 with the AX1200 last week and so dissapointed with the noise levels. It's a massive sack of fail as far as I'm concerned and so annoyed I waited months for this POS.

1. When idle the fan makes a constant drone, like that lousy corsair airflow memory fan. I know each of my gpu's according to reviews have higher idle power consumption then GTX 480's but still the HX1000 was silent when idling. And I've got my 800D configured so my system is generally pretty quiet. This psu fan just idling ruins all that completely.

2. Under load unless you switch vsync on, the fan buzzes like crazy. Interestingly Corsair picked up on this in a sticky and say to turn on vsync

This is the 1st I've heard of a psu fan (or could be the psu itself, not sure but it definitely sounds like the fan) making this loud loud buzzing under load with vsync off.

Already RMA'd and on my 2nd one which is the same. Mate has same problem. Noise levels are just unnaceptable. Very annoyed as I preordered this PSU months ago, and it turns out to be a lemon.

Some people here having issues too, and problem reported by some NewEgg buyers.

I've sold my HX1000 prematurely so think I'm going to go for an Enermax Revolution 1250w. I'd be interested in hearing peoples opinion on the Corsair fan. I should have listened to Bit-tech/Custom PC's review last month when they said the thing was annoying as hell.

I guess it's the internal circuit that makes the buzz noise instead.

Yeah, it's not the fan, probably a coil. My 500W Seasonic M12-II buzzed (slightly, not very loud) with a GTS250, but only when running F@H, not under normal 3D load.

I must take it out of the case and have a listen. It does sound like it's coming from the fan area. Either way it's a fail for this psu because even when it's not buzzing under load, the drone during idle is woeful. It's even worse then a Dell XPS 720 system I had once which had a Delta psu. I can't believe Corsair think this is ok ? And it's not a once off. I have had 2 with this problem. Mate has same issue too. And I was putting off getting the Revolution 1250 for this. Anyway, at least you can return stuff in this part of the world under distance selling regs, so it's a full refund for me.

Yeah... it's not the fan making the buzz.

I will know tommorrow when I test it some more. But to be honest I'm convinced it is the fan so far. It's not an electrical buzzing noise you get from a coil. That's I'm familiar with. I've had PSU's that have done this. It's sounds more like very loud pwm clicking you get from some fans when they speed up. Almost like a noise a fan blade would make if it was rubbing off something, it's that loud. Buzzing probably isn't an accurate description. Also, some people on other forums have experienced the same and there was some negative press about the fan used in this model psu. Anyway, I will remove it from the case tommorrow and will be able to tell for sure if it's the fan or the psu.

Take a Q-tip and stop the fan.

Ok.tried the qtip.

Fan is noisy, especially under load but can probably live with that. However the buzz is electrical as you said. During the Heaven bench, it's a high pitched buzzing, then it pauses while the next scene loads, and starts again.

Could this be normal ?
