Default Now that's funny....

SilverStone 1000W is not as efficienct as BFG 800W.

Ok... you didn't need me to tell you that because the reviews are out there, but because of my recent unemployment I've been gutting PC's to sell parts on eBay and one of the things I swapped out was my ES-800 PSU. I put a Strider 1000W in the rig and the overload alarm on my CyberPower 685AVR UPS started going off like bat shit just idling in Windows. I unplugged one of my monitors from the UPS and it stopped, but as soon as I fired up a game the alarm started going off again.

Just thought it was funny.. that's all. I like the SilverStone because it's fully modular.

You must be pretty much red-lining that UPS from the sound of it

Yeah. Funny as I only have a single CPU (Core 2 Quad) and one graphics card (GTX 280). It could be the five hard drives that are pushing it over the limit.

I just think it's funny that it never beeped with the ES-800.

As long as I'm not gaming, the alarm doesn't go off, so I'm half tempted to open up the UPS and cut out the speaker.

I did that to a modem many years ago and it stopped working until I restored the circuit sans speaker. (By soldering on a bit of paper clip...is that a "junction"?)

No, I guess I'd call that just patching a wire.
