PS3 just went boom.

Our 80GB PS3 is about a year old, and I just turned it on, and it's red screened. It may still be in the factory warranty period, though we also bought the store service plan at Best Buy. When the Wii errored out, they just replaced it on the spot, which is what I'm hoping they'll do.

Anyone know if that's a likelihood? They only have the new slim ones in-store, but since the 120GB is the replacement for the 80GB, I don't know.

My friend's PS3 did this a while back. The Best Buy around here took it back after a little convincing.

Made him mad that my 360 manufactured on 8-18-2007 is still running strong with no RROD

They not only replaced my dead 80GB with a 120GB slim, but they refunded the $100 difference, and the service plan stays on the new one.

I'll say this, the web browser seems a lot more stable on the new one.
