This way, the radiator gets a fresh source of cool air, whereas if it's mounted as an exhaust, it will be using the already heated air from the inside of the case to cool it down, which will be detrimental to its cooling performance. Of course, it can negatively affect the temperatures of other system components depending on the configuration, which is why I'm personally not sold on the approach, but that's the way Corsair is doing it.

a bottom mounted PSU that gets warm and video cards that exhaust air out of the back of the case are two additional problems with that approach. Shouldn't the PSU be in the top mount if the H50 is drawing air in from the rear?

The 800D doesn't have a top PSU mount.

ok, it just looks like it does in the picture in the OP. but my main point stands, with at least two and the possibility of 4 or 5 sources dumping heat out of the rear of the case, does the H50 make sense?

The PSU is in a separate compartment. Also considering the fact that the fan is going to be forcing the air out the back...there is no problem with the hot air rising...

air on the outside is still going to be cooler than the inside air even with stuff dumping it out the back.

Yes. One of the last commincations I had with Dave Hammock before he disappeared from the web was how a major brand single +12V rail PSU wasn't shutting down when shorted. We were literally arc welding with the PSU. Hopefully Dave's absense isn't due to the fact that he got over zealous with the welding.

Thanks Dave.

LOL @ your sig. I remember years ago reading a home stereo magazine review of a Krell Monobloc amplifier. Just to show off, they welded with it.
