Default Help Guys!

I was about to sleep when my 580W Powmax Demon woke me up with a huge POW sound and died!

It smells really bad! Is power supply smoke dangerous? (Main thing I'm concerned about)

Open a window.

Of course if it's still smoking, then put out the fire first.

It's certainly not good for you. Open the windows, get some fans in the room, and get as much ventilation as possible.

next thing to do is find your closest friend and have either him or her slap you about the head and shoulders for a few minutes.

friends don't let friends buy powmax PSU's.

It's bad for you if you sit in it inhaling it all day long. But you're not gonna be doing that, lol. As said, just vent it all out.

Ideally you should have ditched the PSU before it blew up in your face. But that's too late now. Make sure it didn't take out any of the components in your computer. And for your own sake, get a good PSU to replace it.

But only if you also slap them while they slap you.

Because friends don't let friends buy powmax PSU's.

Well, it's still under warranty, so I guess I'll RMA and see how it goes.

I won't be using it if I the RMA does go through though
I'll keep the replacement as...a fan tester or something. o.o

What should I buy in the $40 CAD range for a

-Stock Phenom II X2 955 Black Edition cooled with a Thermalright Ultra 120 (non Extreme) and a Scythe Gentle Typhoon 1850rpm fan
-2x2GB DDR1066 (1.8v OCZ Blades)
-Gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3P
-Sapphire Radeon 4350
-2x 500GB WD Caviar Blacks
-2x 120mm 1850RPM Gentle Typhoon Case fans
-Some random Samsung DVD Drive (SATA)

Corsair CX400 or Antec Earthwatts 380.

Check ncix.com on Wednesday evening when their next sale starts--this past week they had the CX400 for $30AR in limited quantities.

Come on, you weren't actually using a Powmax were you, you sound like you're joking. Are you sure it didn't take out some of your hardware?

Just throw it in the trash, it's not worth the RMA.

Aw not rebates

I've sent in rebates for memory, and lots of other stuff in the past and I've only gotten 2 of them back (One arrived in 4 months, the other a year)

(Yes, I filled the forms in correctly)

I consider the price before rebate the actual price
