It has been a long time and I actually missed doing reviews of PSUs. It seems like alot of sites (other than JG, [H] and a few others) have stopped doing PSU reviews altogether over the last months. Heck, Anand's last PCU review was in Feb so I figured now was as good a time as any.

Thanks for the compliments, I've got a pair of Corsair units lined up and hopefully some other stuff soon.

I guess I'll go ahead and ask the stupid question, why the 13 month hiatus from PSU reviews?

'twas a nice review. I've always liked HWC's review layout.

Literally 9 of those months were chalk-full of GPU reviews and since I only do this review / editing thing as a hobby, I didn't have the time to even think about PSU reviews.

The rest of those months were spent narrowing down the test system and methodologies. I tested an amazing number of program combinations in order to get worst case scenarios (in the end, I had a list of 422 combinations) to make sure it was done right.

I also went through alot of dead hardware. One of the HD4870X2 cards died and since Palit has gone AWOL from North America, I had to jump through hoops like a monkey to get the thing RMA'd. I burned out the MTEC controller on the Boreas twice due to the fact I had it running at 100% so much but CoolIT devised a new wiring layout and it works like a charm. Finally, two sets of Aeneon XTune memory went tits up (junky stuff).

So there you have it.
