Default My Corsair HX1000 died after 1 week

As the title states, I realized it was dead when I pushed the power button today and nothing happened. The lights on my motherboard we on but nothing would power up; no fans would spin, not even momentarily. I plugged my backup psu in and everything powered up fine. Now instead of flaming quality control, maybe something else is wrong. This is the second PSU to die on me in two weeks. Maybe a coincidence, maybe something is wrong with my computer or power source. I have a surge protector that was decent when I purchased it 6 years ago, but maybe it's time for a replacement. I just didn't expect the sturdy Hx1000 to bite the dust so quickly. Here is my previous post:

I plugged in a backup PSU that I keep and the system powered up fine. Now I am going to RMA this PSU, but I'm thinking of getting something else also. I need something that's going to be reliable. Every time I need to replace my PSU, I need to run my cables behind the MB tray and behind the MB itself. This is a balancing act involving me removing my MB with its heavy water-cooling blocks. Basically, it’s a big pain in the arse. I don't want to do it every couple of months.

So can anyone recommend a good PSU for my setup? I upgrade every year to high-end hardware, but usually never run more than 1 graphics card. I overclock, I game, and water-cool, so a little extra may be required. I prefer a modular psu. I was going to buy the Corsair 1000HX, but X-bit labs kind of ripped it, so now I'm going to see what you guys say before I buy. Or should I just consider myself unlucky and just go with the BZ-800 that will be replaced and save my money on a different unit? Thanks in advance.

Just from a law of averages side of things, if you have two PSUs die in two weeks I'd look at something else being the problem.

It's possible that you've got really dirty power - or it's possible that there's a weird short somewhere - I can't imagine where or how, but I suppose it's feasible.

It definitely sounds like you've got something going on though.

Of course we'll RMA the unit for you and get you a good one - I just wonder how long any PSU will last for you now.

Hmm, I advise replacing the surge protector asap. Wear and tear and usage will reduce the amount of surge protection you'd get.

New Monster Surge protector is on its way. OK, so what's the best RMA approach? Buy.com (where I purchased the product) or directly through Corsair? Not having a computer is killing me.

For your sake, I hope you got something that has indicator for faulty wiring. Don't live in the US, so can't help you with the latter.
