How bad is this card?
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1130987444322 It's what i'm getting for christmas to hold me over untill DX10 cards get in the ~$150-200 range. Any warnings? It's too late to go back now, i just want to know what i expect. It's an upgrade from what i have now (AGP 4x RADEON9000Pro 128MB) i know.

I just got an X1650 Pro to replace my 8500LE that was dying. You'll notice a big difference with that card, though I'm not exactly sure how my card differs from yours.
Mine's letting me play Heroes of Might and Magic 5 at 1280x1024 maxed out, though it starts getting a bit choppy when I turn on FSAA. It runs Oblivion respectably well too. Last edited by Oklahoma Wolf; 11-25-2006 at 06:35 PM. |

I have one. It's ok.. depends on what you can deal with. I was coming from a Geforce 2MX and a fx5200... so it was a good deal and it was the HIS IceQ cooler for $120. Silent and decent however a 6600gt should clock better and further.

Most of the 512mb X1600PRO's are hypermemory{256mb onboard,256mb shared}
Either way, you got 12 pipes with either a 64bit or 128bit interface Some have GDDR2 or GDDR3. a little worse then a vanilla 6600 or a 9800PRO It will be a great improvement over your 9000

I think it's supposed to have GDDR2 so if not then i'll take it anyways. are those in the $100 price range? anything would be, i believe driver issues or card issues cause my whole system to restart at times.

CAD most actually have 512mb memory but most won't even be able to use it so it won't matter. The extra 256mb is just to attract consumers.
It's 128-bit not 64. Also should definetley be better than a vanilla 6600 |

Yeah, ok
You would "think" it would be better then a 6600 thats stock, OC that 6600 till it bleeds, and watch that Radeon get bitch slapped

The x1600 cards are pretty bad for their price point, in all honestly. The eVGA 7600gt KO was on sale at CircuitCity for $89.99 yesterday
