I currently have an Antec Truepower Trio 650W. The fan on it no longer seems to work. As I otherwise have pretty good cooling, neither my CPU or MB seem to be getting too hot, but I figure it is only a matter of time until the Antec dies, possibly doing some collateral damage. I can send it back to Antec, but waiting around for 2 wks with no PC is not really an option I am interested in.
I have done some preliminary research and am leaning toward a corsair. Looking at newegg, after rebates the costs for the following 3 PSUS are: 650TX - $79.99 550VX - $84.99 750TX - $93.99 Assume that these price differences don't matter to me and that I generally like to err on the side of overkill (but only if it means less hassle and more reliability). Also, I think that any one of these three PSUs would have plenty of power for my system. Is there any reason not to get the 750 - keeping in mind that my main concern is reliability? It is so discounted, I wonder if that is due to issues with the device. I don't think my power reqs are too great: CPU P4/3.0CGHz 800M 478P/512K HT RT( Intel 875P) MB ASUS P4C800-E DELUXE CANTERWOOD 1GB RAM 2 120MM case fans 1 x7200 Maxtor 160GB SATA HDD CDRW LITEON|52X32X52X LTR-52327S BK DVD|SONY 16X DDU1612/B2 BLACK OEM FD 1.44MB|MITSUMI D359M3D nVidia 5900 Ultra |

It occurs to me the prior email is rather dense.
My question really boils down to: for an extra $9 is there any reason not to get the 750 rather than the 550 (e.g reliability)? |

you could power that system with an Antec EA380. Then again, if you go for the 650 or the 750 now, you're set for just about any future build.

Thanks. That was my guess, just wanted to make sure there weren't any bugs I didn't know about. With rebate the 750 is actually only $77 on provantage.
Didn't want to go with an antec since I had bad luck with the last one. |

why don't you open the case if its out of warrantee, obtain a similar fan, check the ratings, and simply do that? unless its the fan controller that's gone, surely a fan is a simplish drop in?
