Default PSU for 9800 GTX+

I am getting a EVGA 9800 GTX+ from an RMA deal and I didn't realize it needed 2 PCI-E connectors. My Xclio 500 watt only has 1 connector and I don't want to use an adaptor.

Can anyone recommend a "cheap" PSU that will run the 9800? The only PSU brand I know is good is Corsair and I can't afford a 550VX right now. I just need something to tide me over until I do a new build after the first of the year, then I will use it in a low power Linux box.

I am running an AMD 4800, 2x1gb DDR2 800, 1 SATA HDD, 1 optical drive and 4 120mm fans.

Which Xclio do you have?

How about the Silverstone Strider 500W

not to beat a dead horse but forget the 9800GTX+, the price point is stupid (unless you get a really good deal) right now the GTX260 are down as low as 225 AR, or around 265 not on special. the 4850 is around 140AR. the 8800GT can be had for around a 100 bucks. all this makes the 9800GTX+ unattractive at its current price point.

If $85 is "too expensive" I'm afraid I'm going to have to ask what kind of "RMA deal" you're getting. Because if it's the graphics card that's eating into your budget, I would have a listen to what Valset has to say.

I personally use anything less than a good 500W with two PCIe connectors.

Yeah, you're not going to get anything good with two PCIe connectors if you're skimping. Scrounge up enough for the VX550. You'll thank yourself later.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I'll wait till I can get the Corsair. The 9800 GTX+ is costing me $60 plus my old 7600 GT and shipping. The MSRP on my old card was $139 and they wanted to replace it with a 8600 GT with an MSRP of $89. When I told them that I was unhappy with this they offered to use the MSRP of my old card to step up to a higher priced card. The 8800 gt was $5 less than the 9800 GTX+ and the 8800 GTS 512 was $30 more.

I currently use a Xclio Good Power 500 watt.

I'd say you got a pretty good deal...stepping up from 7600GT to 9800GTX+ for $60 would have me jumping for joy.

that is a pretty good deal, any chance they will just let you step up to a GTX260? but the PSU I listed is on special and not bad for 50 bucks.

Even better is the same PSU at Buy.com for $40 after rebate, with free shipping. Was $35 last week.
