The HX 620W from JG has a primary capacitor from Hitachi, while mine and other ones seen in other reviews has the same Nippon Chemi-Con as the 520W model.

The unit that tested windwithme in tweaktown on august 13 was using a Hitachi capacitor too.
Your was tested on July. Mine it's from october (Nippon), dinoxcp it's from november (Nippon), silentpcreview from november (Nippon), madshrimps november again and Nippon again, etc .... Why has Corsair switched from Hitachi to Nippon Chemi-Con capacitors ? Should you JG review it again ?

I don't think the change of a prmary cap warrants a retest. Hitachi and Nippon Chemi-Con are both good caps, they're the same value and rated at the same temp... and they're primary caps. Not secondary.
![]() I will ask about the change, but I'm sure it's just a matter of availability. It takes a long time to get large order of quality caps in on a moment's notice. I'm sure Corsair blew threw the first batch of power supplies pretty quick and Chemicon caps were the ones they could get the quickest. |

Hitachi's are also used in Zippy units. Any change in the secondary caps you notice?

I asked someone at Corsair and they said that the change was just out of availability.
