Default PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750 Quad Review

Speechless.

We were really impressed by this power supply. It not only could deliver its labeled power at 50º C, but we could pull up to 868 W also at 50º C!

Efficiency was one of the highlights of this product during our tests.
Even when we overloaded it efficiency was still above 80%.

Even though noise and ripple weren’t the lowest we’ve seen around they were at levels below the average, which is excellent.

It is a very quiet power supply if you run it below its maximum capacity.

I don't really think that is suprising, pretty much what every other reviewer has found.

PC Power and Cooling PSUs are excellent, but their big mouths and big prices are a bit of a turn off to me. Now that OCZ has bought them, the prices are falling, but even a few months ago, you could buy similar or better PSUs for less.

The way they also stubornly hang on to 80MM fans, and non-modular cabling is also rather annoying. I personally think they do it less because they think they are better options and more because they want to be different and be thought of as old school, and they think by doing this they can lob stones at all the other manufacturers and proclaim "We are PC P&C so we are right"

Speechless was about performance, otherwise you're right. In my country for ~$30 more you can get Corsair HX1000.

I'll agree with the modular cabling bit, but 80mm fans isn't as clear cut as you'd think. Sure its less airflow in free air but an 80mm setup means the air is going striaght though the psu rather than taking a right angle turn (with associated turbulence and airflow losses, dead spots). Regardless antec have proved that an 80mm cooled psu can be very quiet, ranking right up there with corsair/seasonic setup but still keeping psu cool (cooler than toughpower 600w in the same review despite it having a 140mm fan and running louder).

compare to hx620

Both have a similar speed vs load profile, a 1000rpm 80mm fan makes a similar amount of noise to a 120mm fan @ 700rpm. see:

Another example of how 80MM across works better than 120MM+ down is in Matt's Rosewill "Xtreme Series" review: http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php...=Story&reid=60
