Default Router Issue

Could a router with a broken antenna be the source of lag spikes? My brothers and I get lag spikes a lot while there on xbox and I'm on computer. So I was wondering if any of you guys could suggest a good gaming router for sell on the internet. The lag usually happens randomly throughout the day. Lag spikes as in picture freezing for a set amount of time then starting back up. So if i type something in a game and i get this lag spike, the words dont appear on screen til like 20 seconds or so later. Note the lag spikes arent a set amount of time either or a set time of the day. Any good gaming router suggestions? My brothers think this is good. http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/wireless/...bgn-225619.php
What do you think?

I use a D-Link DGL 4100 (gamers lounge) , which uses similar technology, and with this series it kicks ass if you have others killing your upload speed.

Newegg has the DGL 4300*wireless* on sale for $64.99 after rebate http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16833127158

That would save you over 100 bucks, so that should give you something to think about

Sweet Thanks. One more thing. Which is better for gaming. Wired or Wireless. Or is there not much a difference? By the way is this like the one you listed as well. Or not much a difference?

You probably check it by using http://www.speedtest.net/ and see weather wired or wireless connection is faster, but the ping difference would be a few milliseconds.

Wired is not susceptible to RF interference, which can cause packet loss and retransmits. So in addition to having slightly lower ping times, you'll have more reliable ping times, as opposed to losing packets every time someone turns on the microwave.

Wireless is what you use for the convenience of not having to run wires. In all other respects, wired is superior.

Which is supposed to be the most superior manufacturer for gaming routers ? D-Link or Linksys. And most likely I will have to get wireless.
