Default should I buy an overclocked mobo?

it looks like its been cared for, thermalrite NB cooler, so is it better to have an overclocked one that's well cooled, or a stock one new?

or is it likely fried to pieces?

Wait... how is the motherboard "overclocked"?

I think he means, it was run over an extended period with all voltages maxxed out.

hmm, I dunno what he has done, but presumably, the fsb, its an intel one, has been ramped up, leading to the NB requiring a better heatsink, and some of the mosfets appear to have after market heatsinks too.

just wondering if its likely to be shortened lifewise. no idea about voltages.

I'm with Jon ... Stick with a new board that has a warranty.

Default Depends on how aggressive the overclock is/was.

It depends on what's been done. If the temperatures have been low and the voltages not too crazy, it should be fine. It's also a matter of price.

Moderate overclocking doesn't shorten component lifetimes all that much.

On the other hand, if the temps are in the 70s (Celsius), I'd demand a pretty steep discount.

the motherboard cannot be run out of spec till you do a vmod....

with extra cooling it may last longer then a normal unit run in a small hot case at stock speeds. MORE then likely actually.

it depends also the case it was in.
small hot cases with basically no airflow could overheat your components without much of overclocking.
if you do not know much about the former user of the board then rather stick to a new one, instead risking your other components too.
