What monitor cable to use..?
I have the BFG 7800GTX with DV-I (I think) ports on it. (I hope to be changing this in the next month or so to the 8800GTS 512MV G92 card....would the DVI connectors be the same ?)
I currently use an analogue monitor, so I have to use the VGA cable with the DVI adaptor to plug into my GFX card. I am not keen on this arrangement as I reckon it might put a bit of a strain on the GFX card port. Apart from the solution of buying a DVI capable monitor (not that rich yet) is there a cable to use that would have the VGA connector on one end for the monitor, but a DVI connector on the other end for the GFX card and do away with the 'dongle' ? I am a bit of a numpty with these cables and their various connectors, and have seen a few for sale on PC parts sites, and I am not really sure what I should be buying.............assuming they are suitable. Grateful for any advice, and sorry if this question is wasting your valuable eyesight....
