Default m12-700 wont power up...

Ok my M12-700 works fine when hooked up to a mobo... rails are solid even.

But if I try to do the green to ground jumper thing or use my new PSU tester (which works fine on other PSU's) the dang thing just will not turn out. It gives a burst of power (everything flashes on) but then quickly cuts out and its done.

Any ideas? I am goign to try again to contact Seasonic for an RMA...

Maybe you need a minimim load before it starts up.
Try to hook a HDD/DVD or some fans before doing green/black strap.

But if PSU is fine powering your rig, why RMA?

Becuase I have strange issues with this rig... and I want to elliminate even the slightest problem... that and I want to be able to power up this PSU to be able to bleed my water loop without power up the system.

I have 4 120mm fans including 2 .65A panaflos, 2 80mm led fans, a 18w pump, and a couple drives hooked up to it... still doesnt power up with the PSU tester. And it used to power up with the black to green jumper trick... then one day I heard something from it and ever since it does not power up that way... how the heck does my mobo get it to power up?

A while back I had some Andyson PSU's that did the same thing. They need a feedback through one of the other connectors or something. Don't recall the exact issue, but it was by design.

I think they did this because without it you could actually over-ride the short circuit protection and arc weld with your Seasonic power supply.

That makes sense...

But that doesn't explain why I used to be able to to the jumper thing and then one day it stopped working...

I will try my PSU tester on my new M12-700 that I got for another build...

Hmm...

I missed that part. It USED to work. That is odd.

And now the new unit powers up just fine with the PSU tester...

I remember I accidentally crossed wires once when I was testing my custom wiring and ever since then it hasnt wanted to work with the green to ground jumper trick... by why would it work with a mobo and all its rails be solid (as far as I can measure with a dmm) and yet not power up with a PSU tester?
