If anyone needs any Linux help, I'm yer guy. I don't claim to be an expert, mind you, but I have extensive experience running Linux (specifically Red Hat and Fedora Core) and I'm willing to help as best I can.

I may take you up on that at some point, I've got a 50gb partition that's been waiting for me to drop Linux on it for a while. I've used various distros off and on over the years but it always falls by the wayside eventually.

Not sure, was leaning towards Fedora (used redhat in the past) or maybe Ubuntu, as that seems to be the latest distro of the month. Ran gentoo for a while on a dual celly 366, but I sold that board. I've been meaning to do some research since I can get a massive discount on O'Reilly press stuff, including No Starch, so I thought I would look for a book that came with a distro and work from that.

Well, I'm pretty biased towards Fedora Core/Red Hat myself. That's where most of my experience lies. Start a torrent for the 64 bit dvd iso now. I d/led the 32 bit last night. took forever cuz the servers were getting HAMMERED.

I downloaded the 64 bit Fedora DVD ISO a few months back, still sitting on my hd. Should probably get a newer one...

I had a problem getting software raid to mount on reboot but a friend helped. None of the howto mentioned this magical line:

dpkg-reconfigure linux-image-`uname -r`

fyi for those who care - I was able to get linux up and running wthout issue on a p965 board (asus p5b-e). Well one issue the on board lan is not yet supported. I think 2.6.19 will support it (not 100% sure - saw indication a patch was submitted but couldn't find it being accepted in the kernel change log). I'm running 2.6.17-10. Fyi if you have a tv tuner you will want 2.6.18.4 or newer.

Why torrent the ISOs? I always download Debian or Ubuntu ISOs straight from the mirrors. Heh, sorry didn't realize the bot above me spammed this ancient thread. Feel free to delete my post.
