So someone in another forum told me the copper 750 silencer by PCP&C has 8 changable 6/8 pin PCI connectors along with 2 6 pin, but the copper only. That was a surprise to me so I called PCP&C and let me tell you, I was quite surprised at how curt the guy was to me on the phone! He talked too fast to make out the details, must have been stressed or something, but evidently they are now making a version of it with the two additional pins. I don't know if this has made it to any etailers yet, but it sounds nice that they have done this.
Maybe by the time I can afford one it will be available? I asked him how important he thought the two new common/negative leads are, he said 1 is for sense and that he felt it was basically a way for video card makers to insure that high power supplies are used more than anything. So I take it one of the two negative leads is used for sense and the other for "ground/common"? Here is the page with the diagram showing that they are making it: http://www.pcpower.com/products/asse...5Q_copper1.jpg As you can see, it appears those two new leads dont run all the way back to the supply, at least it appears to be up to question. If someone gets this supply and can tell us more it would sure be nice. I'd love to see some photos and all. I wonder if it will be available for the black model? |

Hmm... I thought all of the Silencer 750W Quad units were that copper orange like color.
Not all of the "copper" Silencers have the 8-pin, but the newest one does. So if you're interested, don't assume! Call your vendor first or order from PCP&C direct!

Yes, it is true that the revised Silencer Quad will have 2 6 pin and 2 6/8 pin. But for now like you said this revision is only limited to the copper model. I myself want to get the black model, so i emailed PC P&C and they said they are working on it right now and the black model will also have the 2 6/8 pin very soon. And if anyone wants to pick one up, do like Jonny said and get it directly from them, it is a very new addition so retailers don't have the revised version yet, that's what i've been told anyway.

But what I wonder, are the two additional black wires run all the way back to the supply? And what does the 6/8 connector look like, like how they do the 20+4 connector, or different somehow...
I know PCP&C doesn't believe in modular setups, but it might be neat if they come out with an 850W 50C version of it, but one other thing I wish they would do is add the darned supply fan tachometer lead so the motherboard and software can sense if the supply fan is running right, it seems so crazy that a premium supply doesn't have that feature! |

No the 8pin is not breakaway on most units and has alittle piece to keep your from keying it inot a EPS connector...or a loadtester with a 6pin PCI-Express connector. |

Wait a minute, so you are saying it ISN'T a 6/8, but only an 8 connector? So it can't be used in a 6 pin socket? Why does the diagram on their site seem to indicate otherwise, and I am still asking: Do the wires run all the way back to the supply, in other words, are all 8 wires run to the supply, or do they jumper off of the other negative wires of the 6 pin part?

I just received a quad 750 in copper today direct from PC Power and Cooling (shipped yesterday). This one has 6/8 connectors so you can use it in a six pin socket. Unfortunately I already installed it so I don't know if the breakaway 2 pin section has wires that run back to the box or are just jumpered off. But it definitely does have the breakaways.

I was wondering about this as well, i was under the impression the PSU itself will make sure the fan is running properly, isnt that so?
