So this is my setup:
Gigabyte M59SLI-S5 Motherboard
AMD 3600+ X2 AM2 Brisbane (not that Brisbanes come in 939)
1 GB DDR2-800 Corsair XMS2 C5
eVGA 7600 GT 256MB
Thermaltake Big Typhoon VX
If I have left anything important out...I'll fix it as soon as someone yells at me, but here is the problem:
I'm new to overclocking, but so far I've been pretty happy, I'm at the default vcore that my motherboard picked, 1.3V, with a FSB of 304 (shows up at 303 in CPU-Z and Everest) and the 9.5x multiplier giving me 2878 MHz for the core. I have the HT link multiplier turned down to 3 of course. so I've got an HT Link of 909. I'm really happy with this, except for one thing, because of the way DDR2 RAM works, or the way I understand it to work, I had to turn the timing setting down to DDR2-400 giving a RAM divider of 10 to give me a RAM frequency of 288 MHz....which I'm not happy with. I've tried going up to DDR2-533 which SHOULD give me a divider of 8 and a frequency of 360...but whenever I do, the BIOS posts as DDR2-800 and I don't pass Go OR Collect $200. Anyone have a similar experience or know what else I should be dropping/raising to allow me to USE DDR2-533? Thanks in advance.
P.S. For anyone using DDR2 RAM and getting a little confused with the dividers:
