Default Enermax/DFI help

Not sure if this is the right place or if anyone would have a suggestion but here is the problem:

I have an Enermax Galaxy 1kw that has been working fine with an Asus Crosshair MB. The MB died (my bad, not the PSU) so I swapped in a DFI UTNF590 SLI that I had. Turn on the PSU and all of the appropriate lights on the MB come on, hit the on switch and I get about half a turn on the fans and the PSU shuts down giving me a red LED and an audible alarm that Enermax identifies as a "short".

I pulled an old Liberty out of another computer and it will power it up but it can't handle the 8800's.

Research has revealed an apparent problem between DFI and Enermax which sokjme are calling "switch bounce". I have balanced all of the rails as well as I can (everything is connected to the native cables except for the FD connector on the MB and the fans) and still have the same problem. I have done the .22uf cap mod on the power switch, still no joy.

The Enermax distributor has pretty much told me it is not their problem, DFI says it is not theirs either.

My system: DFI UTNF590SLI M2R/G; AMD X2-5000+(windsor)@2.9; G.Skill F2-6400PHU2-2GBHZ; 2 Asus EN8800GTX in SLI; 4 Sata drives; 2 DVD R/RW drives; X-Fi Elite Pro; 8 120mm fans.

If I have to I will buy a Zippy but if anyone has any suggestions on how to get this PSU to work with this MB I would be very gratefull. I really don't need to buy a new PSU.

It's DFI's problem. But since it's not "defective", per se, they're not obligated to fix it.

Are you going to RMA your Asus board?

Yeah, I know that their start voltage is out of spec. I will not RMA the Crosshair but I have ordered a new Bios chip( went to far and lost the bios and now it won't accept a flash..no other compatable board available to hot flash from). Since I live in Thailand it may take forever so I will probably buy a Zippy 850 since it, Enermax and Thermaltake are about the only highend PSU's available.
BTW this is the second Galaxy. I had virtually the same problem with the first one when I set it up with the Crosshair. They replaced it and the new one worked ok. It is not entirely DFI's issue because Enermax has admitted that their power guard is overly sensitive and have added a resistor on the PCB to correct the problem on new revs. When they replaced the first one they said it was a power guard issue.
Thanks for the quick response. Any issues other than noise with the Zippy? It is DFI approved and i am old and half deaf anyway.

None that I can think of, unless you have my bank account. If you plan on keeping the DFI though, about the only thing you can do is hunt for a PSU that won't mind powering it

Zippy is recommended on DFI forums.

Yeah - I think Zippy was about the first one to make an effort to support these boards, with Seasonic not far behind.

DFI klnown to be a PSU picky board
SS Strider also had an issue with P965 board
Zippy, OCZ, FSP, PCPnC will be perfect match for DFI boards

You might want to pick a unit with a bit of juice on the 5VSB. DFI boards I've used(NF4 ones especially) were picky about having about 2A on the 5VSB.

I picked up a Zippy PSL-685OP(G1) today (ouch$$$). Fired it right off.

Anybody need a $300 paperweight? Not really, it will go in a system with the Crosshair once i get the new Bios chip.
