So now you see them compared, all the top end desktop models at price point.

I'm going to be serious with you here now.. who do you think won the <2.3GHz battle?

You don't know, do you? Hell, go and read it here:

The TDP power is highly misleading, in particular the FX-7x models draw much more than other 125W rated items, plus the FX-7x only run on mainboards that have power-hungry chipsets.

However, including the mainboard in the equation would change the picture somewhat, in particular if you speculate on nice overclocking results. Quality socket 775 board are nasty expensive and overclocking is often difficult because base FSB is 266 MHz already and limitations often kick in early.

The 6000+ should perform between the E6600 and E6700 and is priced there, too. Add a cheaper mainboard.

Also, clocking result indicate that Intel's current dual-core production doesn't overclock any good (probably because they save the nice dies for the quad chips), but AMD's does.

Then on the other hand Intel's more expensive board usually come with Intel's chipsets, which are saving your from the driver mess that vendors of chipsets for AMD CPUs often produce.
