Is the Rosewill Stallion Series RD500-2-DB similar enough to the reviewed RP500-2 PSU to consider it a good buy as well? TIA

Definitely not. Not even made by the same OEM.

The RD500-2-DB is made by Solytech. The RP500-2 is made by ATNG.

I think someone once said that you can tell the difference right off the bat by the "RD" or "RP."

But if you look at the close up shot with the UL # on Newegg, you'll see that it's E223918. You can cross reference that here: http://www.jonnyguru.com/SMPS_UL.htm

I'm guessing that's a bad thing?

I was looking for a PSU for my backup and it came down to the Rosewill and the Antec EA500.

Thanks jonny! Great info

Why? Is there any kind of criteria that narrowed it down to those two?

Price, quality and availability

I have an FSP in our main rig, so i don't mind paying for quality. Maybe i'll just update that to a Corsair 520 and move the FSP to the backup.

Or, get the EA500....decisions, decisions
