If the cable sets remain unchanged, I'm a need you to put a lil' bitty switch on the front of my power supply, so when I flip it on, pow!, it's backwards compatible with what-ev-uh I got here now. Milli-seconds shmilly-seconds, a delay circuit doo-dad, just make it so, Joe!

When the Haswell's C6/C7 low power state was introduced it was marketed as the end of the world by PSU companies, so they could sell new PSU's of course.
Then when consumer stuff was finally released they all come with the ability to disable C6/C7 in the BIOS.

I see no reason why this new power state also wont be possible to disable in BIOS.
Storm in a teacup.

ASM has no structure like this. It is baked into the OS. Read the Microsoft link I gave in an earlier post. There are no defined power states like S7/C7 except maybe an total disable switch, but it seems MS & Intel & Google want this always on. ASM is simply a permanent S0/C0.

And we marketed C6 & C7 as an issue, because it was. We still recommend in tech support to use C3 max. Only PSUs with enough dummy loads have no issue. And dummy loads are ...

And by the way, you have no idea how fucked up the C6 launch was. Intel sucked my dick for saving their ass then. Was like this: <me> to <xyz> When will you publish the new DG? <xyz> why? <me> Because C6. <xyz> Aaargh, WTF (censored/secret). <xyz calls all major vendors to do an alarm notice>

Intel sucks with communication. They council no PSU vendors and hardly any PSU manufacturers. And those they do council, are only Taiwan based tier 1 and tier 2. Then they talk to only two IC manufacturers, and of those two, only one is one that anyone actually uses for consumer level products.

They're almost as bad as PCI-SIG.

Exactly, they talk to 5-6 companies only (I have a boner now )

But agree PCI Sig is worst, their board of directors has even internal communication issues (= boycotts).
