Default Best way to test PSU without equipment?

Suffice to say I don't have an oscilloscope. Anyway, I bought an EVGA 650 G3, was beautiful, actually made my computer snappier I'm pretty sure. Then it died a couple weeks later. They sent me another. PC is not snappy like b4 and has had some weird crashes. Also the PCI-E cable with 2x 6+2 connectors only has one working connector.. they're sending me another cable but I have an icky feeling about this PSU, when the last one died, it borked my mobo a bit, thankfully it's a fairly tough one and has seemingly recovered now (i hope..) but don't wanna chance it again. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thank You.

P.S. yes I know I should have listened to you and went with the rm550x, but advertising burrows in the braaaaain...

Why? The G3 is a perfectly fine unit....what does the rmx series have over the g3?

So you got a lemon, it happens. The question is...how did it die? why did it die? And if so, could it have taken other components with it? OR did the PSU dying cause some corruption with the actual data on your drives that is being slowly corrected by windows over time?

People keep saying that.

I sit next to a G3 for several hours a day - still can't hear it when my other fans are running - they aren't high speed loud fans either.

How much louder is the G3 over the rmx? 1db? 5db? 20db? 0.1db?

All of that, depends on how, where and with which equipment you measure it.

Some people live in quieter ambient conditions and have higher requirements though.

There are no one-size-fits-all answers for what is satisfactory noise output.

TO my knowledge a PSU will not affect a computer's performance at all. Sure it's not all iny our head?

The CPU has a clock rate. It does its cycles no matter what PSU it's attached to.

Same with the GPU.

Same with everything.

They don't check with the PSU first to see, what it likes, it does what it's supposed to and tells it what to do. Basically, the PSU is a slave to the computer, not the other way around.

Well, the PSU output quality does affect overclocking, which can affect the computer's performance.
