Negative 5 volt line question

Hi, This is my first post on the forum. I've been reading the reviews and posts for a couple weeks now and it helped me to decide on purchasing a Corsair 620 watt power supply.

I just got done installing it and it is working great. The voltages are much closer to spec than my old Antec supply. I started my Abit hardware monitor to check the voltages and when I did the alarm went off. I checked each monitor and found that it was reading the -5v line as having a +3.5v. I'm thinking either something is wrong with the power supply or something is wrong with the Abit monitor.

I went in to the bios and looked at the readings there and it shows a 0.00v reading on the -5v.

Should I be worried about this? All seems to be working fine. How can I tell if it is a monitoring problem with the motherboard vs a problem with the power supply?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The -5 was dropped about a year ago. It can be found in the revisions at http://www.formfactors.org/
The -5 served some ISA cards, old PCI sound cards and some on board sound for MSI mainboards. I'm not absolutely positive but just trying to recall.
The -5 is the #14 port in the 20/24 ATX shell, the wire is/was white.
The -12 is soon to go as it does not serve any real purpose now.

Thanks for the reply. I did some research this morning (when I wasn't so tired) and realized that the specs on the box don't list a -5v rail. Instead there is a 5v vsb rail. I'm not going to worry and have just turned off the monitoring of the -5v rail on my Abit hardware monitor.

Just for my education what is the 5v vsb rail - what does the vsb stand for?

-5V= 5 VOLT STANDBY

-5 is NOT 5vsb.

If the PSU is plugged into the mains and it's switch is on (1=on, 0=off) the 5vsb will be hot. It serves to wake the system from stand-by or wake on LAN.

5vsb is not 5 Volt standby
