Question Odd Case PSU Replacement

I'm trying to find a PSU that fits this odd older style case for top mounting. Most of the newer PSU have the intake fan on the top for bottom mounting? I need one that is on the bottom like the Antec Earthwatts series. That or I'm going to shave out the back plate in the pic. I worried about the power plug bumping into the plate if I flip the newer PSU. Hope what I'm asking make since.

Looking around 600W from Amazon is ideal.

There is nothing odd about that case or PSU or PSU mounting.

A PSU with a fan "on top" is the same as a PSU with the fan "on the bottom", only the PSU is turned around so the fan faces either one way or the other.

That's it. Nothing more.

Just make sure you hang onto that aluminum plate between the chassis and the PSU. That is part of your chassis and not the PSU. I'm sorry if that might seem obvious to you, but back in the day when I worked at Ultra, people would return their PSU to whomever with the adapter plate attached and then complain when they got a new PSU and it didn't fit in the hole.

If I flip it, the PSU fan would get no air flow since the top of the case has no openings. Sorry doesn't make since to me.

What? No... You "flip it" so the fan is facing DOWN.

ALL power supplies can be mounted EITHER WAY, with either the fan pointing up or down, depending on how it needs to be in the chassis.

Gravity has no effect on the components on a PSU's PCB. You can orient any PSU any way you need to for it to have proper airflow.

Your chassis is especially universal. See the four thumb-screws in the middle? Those remove the PSU mounting plate from the chassis. You can take that whole piece and flip it around to change the orientation of the PSU's moutning holes if need be.

Good Call, over looked that option.

And if you have time and skills (or someone willing to do that for you), you can make vents in top of the case too for isolating PSU from case airflow - to make it cool with external air.
