Well.. that went ok considering I had NO SCRIPT nor did I have any idea why I was there.

I think people could tell I had been drinking that new 7-11 "Energy" coffee.

Here's some pics....

The blue shirt is OPpainter from Swiftech. The black polo is Jeremy from DangerDen. Sorry the pics suck, but I only had my cell phone and OPpainter turned the lights down in the theater for his presentation.

The skin head in the lower left hand corner was there with his ginger kid friend (out of frame.) I dubbed them "Beavis and Butthead" by the end of the day. They're the kind of 14 year olds that, after their mom drops them off at Microcenter, makes you wonder why you got into the PC biz.

Early in the day, there was one of those know it all guys in the back row. He was giving me a headache. And what sucked worse was he didn't know what he was talking about, yet he was trying to advise everyone there. One time he told a guy with a USB hub, an essentially sold state component with just traces delivering data and power, to check for a "loose wire" as the cause of the BSOD's he was getting when he plugged in the hub. Classic.

This Microcenter is very different than the others, and they plan to have the 10 new former CompUSA stores laid out the same way as this one.

In the back, behind the "upgrade center" they had a number of screws, nuts, bolts... more than an Autozone and in all different colors. They had cable sleeving, water tubing... you name it. All of the stuff supplied to Microcenter through Frozen CPU. Very cool. Definitely the kind of retail store an enthusiast could feel good about going to.

Nice, I wish the Microcenter here had that kind of WC gear. Instead you get 10' lengths of tubing in whatever colors are available that day. I'd much rather have spools to choose from.

Any more pics about what these things look like? These's nothing like seeing coils of W/C tubing everywhere.....

Are these stores going to have prices that compete with e-tailers? From what I understand, they have to pay way more for the overhead involved with running a brick and mortar, and that is passed on to the customer.

So far the Microcenter's here have basically the same price for DangerDen gear as you'd find on DD's site. True you have to pay tax but then again there's no shipping to pay.

I'll have my Sony camera with me today, so I'll take better pictures.

I didn't take it with me yesterday because I didn't know what I was getting into. Now I know the store and feel comfortable with walking around with a camera.

Prices are about the same as what you see in other places and online. It depends on the item.
