Arrow Ultra X4 1200W Review

Quote:
It's been a while and a half since we last looked at a product from Ultra Products here at jonnyGURU.com, but the long wait ends now with the brand new Ultra X4 1200W unit. This is a unit intended to compete with some of the best high power units currently on the market. I intend to find out just how well this unit stacks up. Join me, won't you?

I wonder if Andyson is proud of their work on this unit?

I wonder if Andyson told Ultra this was a 1000W unit and Ultra said...ok, we'll slap a 1200W label on it.

I doubt this unit costs a lot to produce compared to the competition, so why the hell is Ultra charging this much for it? Must be a lot of idiots buying these things...

At least the new cables are kinda slick. Sucks that the new 1200W unit won't do what it's rated for in the hotbox.

With the sloppy soldering I would say this is probalby even a lower watt unit tweaked to get more wattage out of it.

Only the two boost diodes in parallel can make me feel like it's a 1KW+ unit. Andyson pushed the "PSH" this far and that's about all it can do.

Take quick look at the Andyson built BFG EX1000:

http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php...tory4&reid=151

Sure BFG and Ultra are using different Andyson platforms; however, the BFG has more and bigger parts stuffed into it. Really the same could be said in comparison to any 1KW+ unit I've seen. In comparison, this 1200W Ultra looks more like as 850W unit with an oversized primary capacitor (and mabye upgraded secondary components).
