Thanks. May I ask what you mean by "If it is working"?

BTW, if anyone's ineterested, Tigerdirect has a brand new unit for $170 minus a $50 rebate. Cost of rebate and shipping will be offset by 5% discover cashback.

Though I would check to make sure you can use staggared spin-up since all of the drives will be attached to Rail 1 which has a current limit of 38A.
So all 14 drives at peak usage (initial start-up) could surpass that limit and trip the sensor.....
Wasn't really planning on this power supply. Just happened to come by the deal and the math made sense, especially for what seems to be a decent if not one the top units.

It has only 9 SATA though.

I don't know the distribution, but I am hoping I can use the Molex-es from a couple of other rails for some of the drives using Molex to SATA, thus distributing the load.

Staggering makes sense and I will use it if I can, but I am not really sure if staggering would cause issues with the multiple VMS and software. I am also waiting for the ASRock X79 Extreme 11. If that comes around in a month or so, then I will pick that one up over the ASUS X79 WS as the Extreme 11 has more onboard drive ports. So the storage setup plan is still in the works and hinges on the motherboard choice. I don't really need that much space...it's just that I want to use dedicated drives to a VM with directed I/O just so as things keep running smoothly.

That said, If the SR-2 does not play out for some reason, looks like the AX850 should work just fine. Good to know that.

Thanks again

Molex, SATA, Floppy, & ATX 24pin connectors are all on 12v1

Also, since it's the SR-2, that means you get 9 SATA connectors & only 6 Molex connectors. So take that into consideration (as more cable space was made for the extra PCIe connectors.)

Rail distribution goes:
12v1 = ATX 24pin / Drive connectors
12v2 = CPU power
12v3-6 = PCIe

If it's not not working (eg. DOA, dud, etc.).

Ok thanks.

Wasn't sure why you mentioned it for a new unit...was thinking maybe you had more to say than the literal meaning of those words...maybe high failure rate or some incompatibility with my config or something...

Anyway, thanks again.
