E.g. shitty surge protection features on some motherboards which fail with their fake readings...

Or other kinds of motherboard deffects, GPU deffects, shitty RAM sticks, improper fixed cables or power connector, bad HDD and so on.
There are many point of failure in one computer wich is need to be verified along with PSU.
Just I can't immagine how the RMA guys of the PSU companies reacts when interact with the customers who believe it's just PSU fault and they do not want to listen anything else. I think this is a very hard work to do
which requires nerves of steel. :d

Yip, because if you have 10 year warranty but commence a 20 fee for sending in a PSU that works perfectly fine trumps having 5 Years without such things.

Its the quantity over quality argument here and people don't understand warranty at all - and that 10 years doesn't mean the PSU will last 10 Years neccessarily and that you can also calculate the price of the unit with the expected failure and thus waste money on warranty instead of other things the customar really has an advantage from.

Like a good quality fan that's not annoying, good (sleeved) cables for example...

Or for the support, telephone support...
