Default Seasonic Focus+ Gold live at Newegg

That's the Focus+ Gold line. There's also Focus+ Platinum, and both use some new platform.
There's also Focus Gold (non +) line, which is semi modular and uses the platform from EVGA GS 550-650 according to the photo from Newegg overview section: http://i.imgur.com/YJve9E0.png http://www.orionpsudb.com/app...17-Inside.jpg

Reading these comments about Seasonic in Hardforum makes me want to puke, so much bias.

Newegg now has two SKU's, one with normal retail power supplies and one with golden samples for reviewers.

Big companies like Newegg can't do that so easily. It would be really complicated. Logistics often operates based on UPC, so it would need seperate UPC.

What are those going to compete with, performance and quality-wise? EVGA G3?

Focus is probably gonna replace the G-series as a more cost effective 80PLUS Gold design, while Focus Plus Gold and Platinum is gonna compete with the best 80PLUS Gold and Platinum design, I think.

Never really understood why manufacturers would make more than two options of a PSU for the same tier... A "basic" (can you really be basic with 80PLUS Platinum requirements?)/premium is OK, but I can't see any benefit on having so many competing products that would make the average joe more confused than anything.

RealHardtechX lists the 80PLUS Gold Focus models as having full modular, semi modular and full cabled versions... Is there anyone that buys high-end PSUs that still ask for the old-fashioned cabled design?
