Default 5670 vs 4850 ($70 max price.)

So I'm looking at a 5670 with GDDR5 and DX11 vs a 4850 with DX10.1 and DDR3..

I'm assuming the 4850 will be the best for the price range but use more power and no DX11 ?

For gaming, DX11 is irrelevant in 5670's performance class. And power consumption difference isn't breathtaking either (around 60-70W max vs 100-110W max).

For gaming it's 4850 hands down, for HTPC it's 5670.

How's the 4850 going to do in terms of GTA4 or other "crappy made" games ? BTW: I Have a 1440x900 monitor. I bet it'll max out the steam games without worry? (Hell the 4670 I have almost does it.. paired with this E2160 in this machine).

GPUreview.com's video card comparison. Pretty handy tool for comparing two cards. It's not always apples to apples, though.

the HD5670 might run a little cooler, but it won't perform as well as the 4850, but at 1440x900, the difference would likely be imperceptible.

I don't know about you but all I see is a bunch of random tech #'s there man. I don't see any graphs with actual FPS and so forth to mean anything to me lol.

you can see things like texture fill rate, gflops, memory bandwidth, and so on. As I said, it's not always apples to apples.

plus, at the bottom of each column are links to reviews. You probably won't find a review that compares them head to head, but if you can find a review of each performed by the same site, you'll get a pretty good idea of how they stack up against each other.

OK, well in the end:

Do I buy a 5670 or find an old 4850 for the price range for gaming ?

I have played GTA4 @4850 @1440x900, medium/high, distances all around 30-40%.

Games like CoD4, Burnout Paradise, etc. were maxed out, with AA/AF.

Anything to complain about ? How about Crysis 1 @ DX10 ?
