Pfffft...of course you have enough power, would be my normal answer. But I'm running 3 GPUs and SB-E CPU doing DC (various Boinc projects) and my meter says I'm drawing as much as 650w from the wall 24/7 week after week.
I'm a fan of quality over quantity and not buying too much PSU, so I stuck a Seasonic X-860 in the box...but I'm starting to wonder about running at 70% rated load for months on end. Thoughts? |

i think you're fine, broseph
![]() that thing has a 7 year warranty anyway, and i dont think 'using it too much' will invalidate it :P |

That's not an issue.
The first component that would most likely fail on that unit is the fan. 70% load gives you a 30% tolerance vs capacitor aging, not to mention the benefit of that PSU probably isn't taking in 50*C air (like it's rated for.) Moral of the story, is you're not pushing it hard enough to worry about it. |

Thanks folks. Every once in awhile when read yet another thread with someone wanting 750w to run one gpu and a 2500k, I start to doubt my own sanity.

They're just not in the know.
It's like when someone from Southern California owns an All Wheel Drive vehicle but never leaves the City / Suburbs. It's silly and a waste, but they didn't know any better or wanted to over-provision. Or they're like those people who say they'll go Crossfire or SLi but never do. Those AWD buyers say they'll go to the snowy mountains or offroad, but they never do. |

You should doubt their sanity instead.

Intelligence more so than Sanity, though I can't blame the general user. As they've been advised poorly in the past.

And thanx to those who refuse to learn, they'll probably be advised poorly in the future.
