Noise Measurements

I'm totally fine with that. Of the units that I have tested personally, only three made meaningful amounts of inductor/other noise. Two also had horrendous ripple (700mV for one of 'em, that's my record so far. Go Sirfa!), the third had more to do with the surface the PSU was sitting on as the whole unit vibrated slightly at full load (not a small wattage unit, that!).

I wasn't sure whether the PSU was functioning inside the box of extreme silence or not, though reading back through the thread it's pretty clear that it is just the fan.
Regardless, I applaud you for going the extra steps to get real, isolated, fan noise readings!
I'm certainly not set up for it, though my test equipment is quieter than most.

with resistor based equipment you can easily make the necessary modifications to decrease the loads output noise, but in most electronic loads and especially with Chromas the noise is ridiculously loud. Strangely enough my previous set up with Arrays was much better in this area, since their fans engaged only when needed, contrary to the Chromas where the fans work even at idle (thankfully not at full speed).

Of course they are some liquid cooled electronic loads in the market but these cost way too much and even PSU OEMs don't prefer/use them (at least to the best of my knowledge).

Arris, your Chromas are silent compared to the older models. The Enermax Chromas are older and they are even louder than the newer ones...

The thing is that I don't have any more space in my lab for this
Especially since I bought a second 50" plasma and till I sell my old one I have it in my office/lab (occupying the space intended for it) so the box remains in the living room (till my wife throws it away )
