Hi my name is david from Argentina, i came to this foro because i saw your excelents reviews of psu units and i need your help with this little problem.
I have a server psu (acbel 1000w) and i want to modificate it for using as a desktop computer, i found with this problem when i try to allocate the 4 lines connectors of 12v and need to connect this: 2 pci-e 6 pin 2 pci-e 8 pin 1 8 EPS 1 24 pines Molex x4 y SATA x6 for example this psu StealthXStream 2 600 W its distributed as follow: +12V1 (yellow wire with blue stripe): ATX12V connector labeled as “CPU1” +12V2 (yellow wire with white stripe): ATX12V connector labeled as “CPU2” +12V3 (solid yellow wire): Main motherboard cable and all peripheral connectors +12V4 (yellow wire with black stripe): Video card auxiliary power connectors which way is recommendable for this psu ? What is the model number on the unit?
Acbel should list the information on their website. The unit itself looks to be a 1U unit, but as long as all of the cables are standard; you should be able to use it in any normal desktop PC without an issue. It'll be very loud regardless thanks to those 40mm fans. If those pictures from Imgur are of your unit; 1 of those caps on the secondary looks as though it may be bulging / going bad. So you may wish to replace that or get it replaced by someone before you use it. |

I've attached a picture with the capacitor in question highlighted.
You'll want to check for yourself as it could just be perception on my part; but the top of the capacitor looks like it is bulging out. The model number on that unit traces back to a PowerMac G5 which does not use standard ATX connectors or pin-outs. So i doubt you can use it in a desktop system. |

the idea is convert into a desktop psu , psu adding PCI-E, MOLEX, SATA, EPS-8 . my question was how to distribute the connectors on the 12v lines .... is from a sun workstation AMD Opteron dual CPU

Ah, then:
12V1 - ATX24 - Molex y SATA 12V2 - 8 Power CPU 12V3 - PCI-E X2 12V4 - PCI-E X2 That distribution would be fine. Though depending on how strict that OCP is; you could run into issues. |
